Dekadentní divadlo Beruška

Instant low-fi musical for three voices!
Dekadentní divadlo Beruška is a theatre group founded by Peter Marek and Jiří J. K. Nebeský, soon to be joined by Jiří Nezhyba, which since 1991 has been devoted to total stage improvisation. Since 1998 the ensemble has been formed by actors/musicians Jiří Nezhyba, Petr Marek and Prokop Holoubek. In their free dramatic forms they use all the possible means of expression, from civilian acting to declamatory exaggeration to musical moments with bizarre movement creations. The form of the performance gradually settled on verbal-motor improvisation with a simultaneously emerging musical accompaniment (violin, piano, bass guitar, drums), created directly by the actors “online” during play. At open-air music events, the performance takes the form of an amplified opera. Theatre was inactive between 2007 and 2023. Members of DDBeruška also perform as part of musical ensembles such as MIDI LIDI, MUZIKANT KRÁLÍČEK or theatre groups LÁHOR/SOUNDSYSTEM or RADIO IVO.
